As your developmental editor, I provide comprehensive manuscript assessment and guidance aimed at enhancing overall structure, content coherence, and thematic development. My goal is to improve overall clarity and impact, ensuring that your work resonates effectively with your target audience.
As your copyeditor, I provide your manuscript with detailed in-line comments aimed at refining your manuscript, ensuring grammatical accuracy, style consistency, vivid prose, light fact-checking, and adherence to applicable publishing guidelines. My goal is to ensure impactful prose while maintaining the integrity of the author's voice and intent.
As your beta reader, I provide a first look at unreleased manuscripts from a reader's perspective, serving as a focus group to gauge whether the story connects with intended audiences. As your ARC reader, I provide early review, build buzz around your new title, and help create visibility through online reviews.

Editorial Portfolio
Since 2020, I have been proud to provide editorial services to diverse clients across a range of genres.
Currently excited to read: engaging adult or young adult fantasy and sci-fi with immersive, well-developed worlds, and narratives where magic or technology influences society, power structures, and character identity. Found family is my favorite trope—especially bonds built through shared hardship, moral tension, or unlikely alliances.
I’m eager to edit projects with strong female leads who are active, capable, and complex, and who drive the narrative rather than orbit it. I love propulsive plots with high stakes and well-earned twists. I’m open to both epic and more intimate stories, as long as the narrative balances heart, danger, and a sense of wonder.
Above all, I’m looking for stories that are compulsively readable, emotionally grounded, and bold enough to take risks.

About Me
My name is Tarah Threadgill.
As a developmental and copy editor, I collaborate with authors to bring their manuscripts to life. I provide services and feedback on narrative structure, plot, pacing, product design, fidelity to CMOS guidelines, and research on market trends. I also conduct background research to ensure the accuracy and quality of each title. With years of editorial experience, I honed my skills working with diverse genres, styles, and voices. I believe in the power of words, and that the right ones in the right order can mend or break a heart.
I am also a secondary English teacher with over a decade of teaching various courses. I gained valuable skills in project management, leadership, team building, communication, curriculum development, instructional design, assessment writing, and data analysis.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Old Dominion University and an MA in Secondary Education from Georgia College & State University. My mission is to inspire and empower students and writers to express themselves creatively and confidently.
